Our Commitments

The Bosabo manifesto for ethical and eco-consciously fashion

Eight commitments

Natural styling teamed with an ethical ethos

Natural styling teamed with an ethical ethos. This is the key to our approach, not only in terms of our choice of materials, but also regarding our production processes and the importance we put on respecting and trusting our employees, letting them work with independence and responsibility. From seeking out the best suppliers all the way through to packaging each pair of shoes, the BOSABO team aims to produce beautiful shoes that show respect for humanity and the environment.

For over a century working with premium and natural materials has been right at the heart of our business. Respecting the environment is therefore one of the key values that drive the way we see our role as a local business. This is why we pay particular attention to the ecological impact of our entire production chain.

Through Our Manifesto, we are happy to share the values we hold dear.

FRENCH DESIGNED AND MADE 001

Made in France

BOSABO shoes are 100% conceived, drawn and created in our ateliers in France. Each pair is handmade and unique – whether it is in the distinct grain of the wood used to carve the soles of the shoes, or the variations in texture and colors found in the beautiful leathers.

OUR HERITAGE AND KNOW-HOW 002

OUR HERITAGE AND KNOW-HOW 002

SAVOIR-FAIRE

The BOSABO ‘savoir-faire’ has been passed down from generation to generation in the same family since 1890. Now in its 5th generation, this know-how is essential to maintaining the quality of our products and the DNA of the brand. It is our duty to share it in order to preserve the company’s heritage well into the future.

Aiming for exceptional quality 003

Quality

Our shoes are designed to last. We pay lots of attention to the quality of materials used and finishes and details on each and every pair of BOSABO shoes - so that they will wear well, season after season.

Respecting human contribution and knowledge 004

Ethical

Providing pleasant conditions, positive working environment and respect for our employees and their contributions to our business are very important to us at BOSABO. We organize the workshop into different production units. Each of our 15 local qualified employees work independently and perform all operations within their unit. This ensures their work is varied and non-recurring, and gives them a sense of responsibility for production outcomes.

Engaged for the planet. 005

Our raw materials come from France or bordering countries in order to minimize the footprint that the company makes on the environment.

The wood that BOSABO uses to craft the soles of our shoes comes from local sustainable plantation forests based in Brittany (eco-certified). This program ensures that the trees are cut when reaching optimum size, and then a new tree is planted. The leathers used to make the upper of the shoes are predominantly locally sourced. Our veggie dyed leather is hand dyed in our atelier to control and limit the quantity of chemical products and solvents used (and are this perfect for sensitive skin).

AIMING FOR ZERO WASTE 006

AIMING FOR ZERO WASTE 006

Zero waste

Our mission to achieve ‘zero waste’ means finding a second life for any waste generated at our atelier. Everyday we try to reduce our wastage by recycling where possible. For example, the off cuts from the wooden soles are used to heat the BOSABO atelier over the cooler months in Brittany. As for our paper waste, we give it to schools for their creative projects.

Local trade

We are committed to building strong, long term relationships with our local suppliers. It is important to create local alliances in order to maintain local trade and create employment in the region.

Transparency

We feel it is important to be transparent with our customers about the origin and composition of our shoes. We communicate openly about our production methods and company ethos, and we aim to work with suppliers who adhere to the same philosophy and are – in turn - able to offer optimal traceability of their own supplies. Our wood coming from eco-certified forests and our leathers being sourced from reputable tanneries in France and bordering European countries are good examples of this.
